Best known for being part of the progressive house duo Way Out West, Jody Wisternoff is no stranger to the electronic music world. His musical career started off at the young age of 13 by making it to the finals of the DMC World DJ Championship and at 15 he formed the group Tru Funk with his younger brother who was just 11 at the time. Jody has been involved with music for pretty much his whole life and that experience is reflected with his latest offering.
Jody’s debut album entitled “Trails We Blaze” was released today on Anjunadeep and as expected, it demonstrates his considerable talent and shows us that after so many years, he’s still very much an integral part of the scene. In addition to having great vocals, provided by Pete Josef and Jonathan Mendelsohn, the album seamlessly blends multiple genres including house, nu disco, progressive, and techno. We would love to be able to pick a few tracks that stood out but the album truly is a great piece of work from start to finish. One point that needs to be mentioned is that Jody included a rework of his previously released track entitled “Starstrings.” This was a nice treat as he managed to give us a refreshing update while still staying true to the original.
Jody Wisternoff’s excellent “Trails We Blaze” is not only suitable for nightclubs and festivals, but for a long road trip or just hanging out by the pool. We are sure this is going to be a great summer soundtrack and we look forward to catching him on his tour. Check out the “Trails We Blaze” Mini-mix and tracklist below.
